WELCOME TO THE

A Summer in the Pacific Northwest

After a wild ride of 100+ weddings in 2022, we made sure to set aside some down time to revamp our business, take some time off with family, and travel this past summer. Having grown up spending summers in Montana, it was top of mind when deciding where I wanted to relax and recharge! Of course, I didn’t have the ability of leaving all the cameras at home…

In early July I made the trek from CA up to MT for a few weeks of doing except catching up with friends and family. After I was refreshed and recharged from a few fabulous weeks on Flathead Lake, I headed up to Whitefish, MT to join a workshop with 6 other amazing photographers from all over the country for a workshop that would take us into Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas. With how frequently I visit MT, it’s been on my list to add it into my photography rotation of places I serve. I couldn’t think of a better way of dipping my toes in the Montana market than this. Here’s a recap of our beautiful shoots put together by Voyage Workshops!

Shoot 1 – Glacier National Park Elopement

Brittany & Martin met us at the gorgeous cabin we were staying in to get some getting ready photos before packing up and heading into the park. We took turns posing them while simultaneously adding the little details like bouquets and boutonnieres, and slipping into hiking shoes.

Upon arriving in Glacier National Park we stopped at the lower falls near Lake McDonald. Only a two minute walk from the cars – but you’d never know! Since we came later in the summer season the glacier runoff was low enough that we were able to venture into the banks of the river and create some amazing images tucking our beautiful couple right up next to the falls!

After our stop at the falls, we started heading up Going to the Sun Highway so we could get to the summit at sunset. We all knew these pics would be the star of the show! The sun was going down quick so we played into it and got some amazing moody shots right before dusk.

We were all over the moon with how this shoot turned out and could not wait for two more days of Montana shoots and working together.

Shoot 2 – Clydesdale Outpost

As a huge lover of horses this was my favorite stop on the trip. If you haven’t already, save Clydesdale Outpost into your bucket list of places to visit. They have beautiful air bnbs with their own cedar hot tubs overlooking the beautiful mountains surrounding Whitefish, and you can play with their gorgeous Clydesdales…what more could you ask for. Shayna & Josh were our models of the day. Shayna was actually also the super talented makeup artist from shoot one! They didn’t have wedding photos so this shoot was exceptionally special to everyone involved. We started strong by immediately jumping in and playing with the horses at their barn.

Once everyone was comfortable, we ventured into the Clydesdale field. These gentle giants could not have been nicer. We had so much fun feeding them and leading them around so we could highlight them in pics. We even managed to get Shayna ON-TOP of one!

Once the the sun started going down we said bye to our new Clydesdale friends, and headed down to the lower pastures for some sunset portraits of just Shayna & Josh. The sunset did not disappoint.

It was an absolutely magical shoot to be a part of and even more heartwarming that we were able to give Shayna and Josh the wedding pictures they never had.

Shoot 3 – Whitefish Lake Maternity Session

We switched up the styles for shoots 3 and 4 and focussed on short and sweet family sessions on our last day in Montana! Shoot 3 was an adorable maternity session for Taylor & Joey Riggs. Taylor was actually 39 weeks pregnant at the time and had her baby only a few days later!

Shoot 4 – Whitefish Lake Family Session

Shoot 4 highlighted the adorable little family of Danielle & Adam Woodard. We kept it short, sweet, and fun to keep the little ones engaged! Their tiny little newborn stole the show.
